The Mental Health Foundation states that good mental health is characterised by a person’s ability to fulfil a number of key functions and activities, including:

  • the ability to learn
  • the ability to feel, express and manage a range of positive and negative emotions
  • the ability to form and maintain good relationships with others
  • the ability to cope with and manage change and uncertainty.

The World Health Organisation recognises World Mental Health Day on 10 October every year.

Rhyl BID has collaborated with organisation across Rhyl to create signposting to support and activities to help you with your wellbeing.

Get ready to completely relax!!
Guiding you through mindfulness techniques designed to destress & calm down the mind followed by yin yoga, a slow-paced style of yoga where you hold relaxing floor-based yoga poses for 3-5 minutes in a relaxed atmosphere lit by candlelight. Beginners welcome! Takes place on Tuesdays at 6pm and Thursdays at 7:30pm. They also offer over 60’s yoga on a Tuesday at 3:30pm

Rhyl Library

Rhyl Library are launching my Reading Friends group on Monday 4th October at 10.30, which will then run fortnightly.  This is a session where people can come together for a chat and cuppa, with some activities based around stories and words.

Rhyl Library (who are celebrating libraries week 4th-10th October) also stock a collection of Reading Well for Mental Health books. This is a national scheme, which provides helpful information and support for managing common mental health conditions, or dealing with difficult feelings and experiences.
