Friday 25th March saw the inaugural Rhyl BID Awards, celebrating and rewarding the very best the town has to offer by shining a spotlight on the businesses and individuals that are striving to help Rhyl shine, all of which are deserving of recognition.

Speaking at the Rhyl BID Awards 2022, held at Costingan’s Coworking and attended by the business representatives from the finalists, their guests and partnering organisations, Abby Pilling, Rhyl BID Manager, highlighted the encouraging participation which will deliver better times for businesses.

Abby said: “Congratulations to all the winners, and to each of our finalists, as you all represent the best of Rhyl, and your contributions to our community are vital, and clearly valued by the public.

“There has certainly been disruption inflicted by Covid-19, but the future is bright thanks to the efforts of the businesses and our partners who are working on a number of projects. As a team we were delighted to see over three thousand individuals cast over six thousand votes, which is a testament to the business’ dedication to their customers.

“We would also like to extend our thanks to Mayor of Rhyl Councillor Diane King for supporting the event with her opening welcome and the presentation of the awards.”

When asked about supporting the event Cllr Diane King added: “I was delighted to be approached by Rhyl BID to participate in this evening of celebration.  To bestow awards in a variety of categories that highlight the accomplishments of hardworking businesses was an immense pleasure.

“There was a wonderfully positive atmosphere and enthusiasm from all those attending.  With the continuing re-generation of our town alongside the dedicated and loyal businesses whose ultimate focus is to provide the best possible customer experience to all who visit their premises contribute to an all-around positive customer experience when visiting Rhyl.

“I would like to thank all the businesses in our town who have strived to continue trading during the past two challenging years and I am proud to continue championing at excellent events such as this which are the perfect platform for bringing businesses together to celebrate and acknowledge their successes.”

Marti Anderson-Bryan of Elwy said of winning their success: “We are unbelievably proud to be the first winners of Rhyl BID ‘Best Customer Experience’ award.

“This is an amazing achievement for our team who will continue to deliver outstanding customer service during what can be a stressful milestone during your life; whether letting, selling, or buying. We love being part of your property journey. We are a team who are genuinely local, genuinely hands on, and genuinely caring and it means the world to us that our clients believe in us.”

Rhyl BID, were also proud to present the Rhyl BID Business Champion Award to Denmore Premier Foodstore.  This award was created to give special recognition to a business that goes above and beyond to support its customers and community.  A business that is embedded in the Rhyl community, supports all initiatives and activities and works tirelessly and passionately to promote the town and work collectively to make it the best it can be.

Speaking to Angela Sykes from Denmore, she said: “The evening was a great success, organised by the Rhyl BID team. The food by Butteez was delicious, the chilled drinks served by Owain of Costigan’s very welcome and it was a lovely opportunity to meet up and network with some of the businesspeople of Rhyl, some I’d met before and others who I created new connections with. There was a lovely buzz about the room; Costigan’s provided a great venue, along with the balloons from Personalize a Memory and the gorgeous glass star trophies from Scene Points.  It was a real Rhyl event; for Rhyl businesses supported by Rhyl businesses.  Many thanks also to Rishi from Place Support Partnership for sponsoring the evening & providing the lovely goody bags.

“Denmore Premier Foodstore as a team were delighted to win The Business Champion Award 2022 & our staff were very pleased to be amongst some great finalists for the Friendliest Staff. It was great to meet the Mayor and that members of Rhyl Town Council and Denbighshire County Council came to show their support too.  Thanks to everyone who voted because as a town, we can all work together to make Rhyl the best it’s ever been.”
